Bateleur is situated in a beautiful scenic area. It is a pity though that the houses all look the same, reminding me of the song: “We all live in boxes, little boxes and we all look the same”. This can still go down as acceptable but what is not, is the building material that were used. The ratio of sand to cement is questionable which is visible in the cracking of walls, not just normal plaster cracks. It is also visible in the surrounding outside walls – we even have ferns growing on the walls! The ceilings are pulling away from the walls – after it was discovered that the ceiling was not fixed to the roof trusses as per SANS. The problems were addressed BUT are recurring and then becomes “maintenance” – a house that is not even 3 years old. There is a wonderful care centre with home-based care services FOR a limited time and not for as long as you live here. Your needs (e.g. bath and dress) have to be not longer than 3 weeks. In my personal opinion and out of experience, the frail care is available, but with a high price! I would advise people to make sure of the meaning of frail care, what you might expect would not be what you get, not at Bateleur but in general.
